GAS to GAS heat exchangers
Gas-Gas heat exchangers are required in the sulfuric acid plants both for the cooling of the exhaust gases of the converter passages, and for the heating of the exhaust gases at the entry to the steps of the converter.
CONPANCOL designs and builds shell and tube heat exchangers for this use, using the appropriate material for each case and to handle the mixture of hot SO2 and SO3.
Some exchangers are internal in the converter and other external ones as we see in the attached photos.
